Day of Doyo-no-Ushi
Today is the day of Doyo-no-Ushi, a day to eat Unagi (eel). The date is decided by the old calendar and this year we have two such days: July 24 and August 5. It is said that Hiraga Gennai, who was a celebrity in Edo era, made this custom to save Unagi restaurants financially distressed.
There are a dozen of Unagi restaurants in Asakusa.
You can also buy at a supermarket.

Shitamachi Tanabata Matsuri
Shitamachi Tanabata Matsuri has being held in Kappabashi-Hon-Dori, a street from Asakusa to Ueno. The dance event was held on last weekend, but you still enjoy the Tanabata ornaments until tomorrow.
Today is Tanabata when Orihime meets Hikoboshi in the sky once in a year. Unfortunately, it will rain in the evening, so it may be difficult to see the stars.
