Shitaya Shrine Festival

Shitaya Shrine Festival will be held in early May at Higashi-Ueno, the earliest summer festival in Shitamachi, which has a history of 1000 years. When you walk from Ueno Station heading to Asakusa along Asakusa Boulevard, you can see the red big Torii (the entrance of the shrine) on you right. Mikoshis will come out on Saturday and Sunday, and the big and heavy Mikoshi called Senkan Mikoshi will appear on Sunday.
